Breaking Language Barriers: How My French SF Trilogy Found Its English Voice
As an acousmatic music composer, I’ve always been fascinated by transformation—how sound can evolve, morph, and transcend its original form. This same fascination with metamorphosis led me to explore a profound question in science fiction: what happens when humanity itself undergoes transformation? Today, I’m thrilled to announce that my French science fiction trilogy ‘De la Mort à la Vie’ is now available worldwide in English as ‘From Death to Life.'
The Art of Translation
Translating science fiction isn’t just about converting words—it’s about preserving the philosophical essence while making complex concepts accessible to new cultural contexts. The journey from French ‘De la Mort à la Vie’ to English ‘From Death to Life’ required the same meticulous attention to detail I apply to my acousmatic compositions.
A Unique Vision of Evolution
Unlike traditional science fiction that relies on technological consciousness transfer, ‘From Death to Life’ explores spontaneous biological metamorphosis. The Homo Permanens don’t achieve immortality through machines—they evolve naturally, transcending death through organic transformation.
This trilogy questions the very nature of human evolution. When death becomes merely a transition, what defines our humanity? How do we create meaning in a post-mortal existence?
